The European Union’s aspiration for climate neutrality will impact lithium extraction in Ukraine
August 21, 2023
By 2050, the European Union aims to achieve climate neutrality, and by 2030, it plans to reduce emissions of harmful substances by 55% compared to 1990 levels. This has led to increasingly stringent environmental requirements for manufacturers and suppliers.
These requirements are measured across three emission categories, with logistics and suppliers facing a growing influence. “Ukraine is geographically closest to the EU, giving it numerous logistical advantages over competitors from Australia, South America, or China,” as stated in a column by Denys Aloshyn, Chief Strategy Officer at “UkrLithiumMining LLC”.
This will contribute to the development of lithium ore deposits in Ukraine, as elaborated in the column on Liga.net: https://blog.liga.net/user/daloshyn/article/51093
