ULM participated in the conference “Strategic resources of Ukraine”: prospects for lithium mining

On 23 January 2025, our company took part in the conference “Strategic Resources of Ukraine: Scenarios for the Development of the Subsoil Use Industry”, organized by the “We Build Ukraine” Foundation in partnership with the National Association of Extractive Industries of Ukraine (NADPU). The event brought together representatives of government, business and the expert community to discuss the prospects for the development of critical materials, including lithium.

Denys Aloshyn, Director of Strategic Development at ULM, presented the prospects for the Polokhivskyi lithium project in Kirovohrad region. He emphasised that:

• Our field is among the top 3 largest in Europe
• The company plans to launch lithium concentrate production in 2028
• The possibility of producing lithium carbonate for lithium-ion batteries is being considered

The main challenges discussed at the conference included transparent regulation of the industry, attracting international investment and Ukraine’s integration into global supply chains for strategic materials.

We are confident that the development of lithium mining in Ukraine will be an important step towards energy independence and economic growth.
