From the mine to the electric car: Why lithium extraction in Ukraine is just the first step towards producing Tesla
European, American, and Asian companies are announcing deals and investments in the lithium market worth billions of US dollars almost every month. Whenever such news emerges, Ukraine is reminded that it also possesses huge lithium deposits and is seemingly destined for success in this domain, even to the extent of creating its own "Tesla". According to most estimates, demand for lithium will continue to exceed supply for at least the next 5-10 years. It is during this time that dozens of new battery production factories will start operating in Europe, becoming major consumers of lithium materials.

ULM completes PEA Level Engineering and Cost Estimation Study for a Lithium Converter
In March 2023, ULM has finished the PEA level engineering and cost estimation study for a lithium converter. The study was run by a leading consultancy and engineering company ANZAPLAN (Germany).  The goal of the study was exploring in more detail an option of building a lithium refinery plant - as opposed to a current base-case scenario of focusing solely on petalite concentrate production.

ULM completed Locked Cycle Tests with Metso Outotec
In February 2023, ULM has successfully completed the Locked Cycle Tests (LCT) with Metso Outotec Finland. This testwork campaign was an extension of previous Open Cycle Tests by Metso Outotec – aiming to optimize the flowsheet for petalite concentrate for increasing recovery and mass pull (concentrate yield).

ULM achieves increased lithium recovery in another round of Open Cycle Tests
In December 2022, ULM has finished another testwork campaign with Metso Outotec Finland. The main goal of the testwork campaign was to develop a flowsheet along with test parameters which can be used to produce a petalite concentrate with greater than 3% of Li2O grade at a high Li2O recovery (more than 50%).
